Colours of Baw Baw (print)
LIMITED EDITION PRINT - 15 ONLY - ONCE THEY’RE GONE, THEY’RE GONE!
ARTIST COMMENTS: "Colours of Baw Baw" was inspired by the diverse scenery of the Baw Baw Shire; the place I call home. This piece was specially designed as an entry for the Department of Transport and Planning’s ‘Transporting Arts Pilot Project’. The Project’s design brief called for artists to showcase what makes Baw Baw Shire exceptional, with the chosen artwork being displayed on a footbridge at the Warragul Train Station. “Colours of Baw Baw’ was successful and is now displayed for all to enjoy as they travel to and from Warragul. I desgined this piece to capture the red soil potato fields of Thorpdale, the rolling green and sepia hills of Neerim and Yarragon, and the rivers and streams that weave between them. It depicts the sun, and the pinks that settle over the horizon when it sets. The Princes Fwy divides the landscape, and represents growth and the linkages to city and country. The landscape is accompanied by local flora; Silver Banksia, Gully Grevillea (endemic to West Gippsland) and the rare Graceful Sun Orchids that sit atop the Baw Baw plateau. Keeping watch over it all are the Azure Kingfishers of Noojee and the Superb Fairy Wrens that flitter among the shrubbery. The work is a joyous, colouful expression of life in Baw Baw.
Please note: This print has been cropped from the original. These images are representative of the print - the full original can be seen HERE
NB: All Fine Art Paper prints come with a small white border to aid with mounting in a frame.
